Presentation
The group TOPOI «The Formation and Transformation of Space and Knowledge in Ancient Civilizations» is financed for Excellence Research Projects by the Federal Republic of Germany. The TOPOI project involves, among other scientific institutions, the Free University of Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin and the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and the German Archaeological Institute. Similarly, research centers of Asia, North Africa and America are involved. The TOPOI research team brings together researchers from various fields: Archeology, Law, History, Anthropology, Architecture and Engineering.
The TOPOI project involves not only the publication of monographs and specialized studies of the management of water resources in the Ancient civilizations, but also promote the organization of international scientific meetings, in conjuntion with, Section B-1 (Routes-Water-Knowledge).

There have been two international conferences:
- I Congreso Internacional Wasser–Wege–Wissen auf der iberischen Halbinsel vom Römischen Imperium bis zur muselmanischen Herrschaft/ Agua, vías, conocimientos en la Península Ibérica desde el Imperio Romano, Elche (Alicante), del 21 al 23 de mayo de 2014 .
- II Congreso Internacional Wasser–Wege–Wissen auf der iberischen Halbinsel vom Römischen Imperium bis zur muselmanischen Herrschaft/ Agua, vías, conocimientos en la Península Ibérica desde el Imperio Romano, Berlín, del 8 al 12 de marzo de 2016.
